Promises of punk, piercings and platforms were made good this past summer, as designers, manufacturers and top retailers representing the hottest in alternative streetwear outlets descended on Pier 92 in New York City at the first of it’s kind Londonedge New York (LENY) Tradeshow.  Original reports had the LENY show returning to the states in the spring but it seems that we will have to wait till the summer of 08.  Anticipation will continue to build as exciting developments roll out over the next few months. Partnerships and timing are key elements to the much-buzzed-about sophomore effort.  “LENY will return to New York even better” says Carole Hunter Joint President of LENY who compares the postponement to an amazing ride, “the lines for the incredible rollercoaster are always long but SO worth the wait. We are totally committed to our community and passionate about this groundbreaking movement which is already an institution in the UK.” The fashion future of the underground movement under one roof is a concept that only LENY can pull off. In fact for almost a decade, the Londonedge tradeshow in the UK has provided one of the top showcases in the world for alternative and clubwear markets.  When they added NYC to the formula the result was the revolutionary. The next LENY Londonedge New York is to be postponed from February 2008 until the summer. There are many good reasons for this not least the winter trade show clashes. In short, it’s a decision we have chosen to take well in advance of the show dates to make it as unproblematic for all concerned and with everyone’s best interests in mind. We’re now busily building data, continuing to research the market and generally working towards making sure the next LENY offers exhibitors and buyers the very best possible platform for success.
